The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) law and ethics and the written exams launched as a single, combined exam on May 24th, 2018. The combined exam consists of 150 questions, and the exam plan is available on the dental board’s website. This action was agreed upon in 2016 with the aim to ensure that the exam meets the requirements of Business and Professions Code Section 139 and that it is legally defensible.

The examination is mandatory for all RDA Applicants and unlicensed dental assistants to receive their license.
